Pinta – the princess cat. Husband’s favorite is often allowed to sneek up into our room at night. Bet you can’t guess who she decides to sleep on. Oh my achin’ neck! After years of dogs in the bed (they never slept on me) and the occasional sick baby I have a deeply ingrained habit of not rolling over if I feel a small creature near me out of fear of smothering someone important. I think Pinta knows this and therefore uses me as a large feline hot water bottle to curl up on all night.
Rheba – Pinta’s teeny, shorthaired sister. Very whiny kitty and very insistant on getting scratched, rubbed and petted every second any human is within reach. But if you are a dog or another cat… Watch it. She is quick.
Brandy – Our first cat. She is an old girl with the instincts of a wild cat. Let no mouse think that a 15 year old cat can’t hunt.
Maverick - When we adopted him the shelter said he was around 5. But we’re pretty sure they low-balled that estimate. He was a HUGE cat. Weighing more than our son for quite some time after his birth. My father and relatives were constantly concerned that Maveric would get in our son’s crib and “suck the breath out of him.” Yep. All the years my husband & I spent working in clinics & animal shelters we never ever saw that. Besides, Maveric has always loved his little boy. But our big guy is heading for that rainbow bridge soon. We’re loving him to bits while we have time.
